A Few More Cuts

The Capitals today returned defensemen Josh Godfrey and Karl Alzner and forward Francois Bouchard to their respective teams in the CHL. The long and short of it is that those three were not going to crack the Caps’ much deeper roster this season, and all three are better served by getting back to their junior teams where they can develop as key players. Also, with the shorter training camps mandated by the CBA and the raised expectations of Washington’s fortunes this season, it’s more important to get the guys ready who are going to be here.

Today’s cuts leaves the number of players still in camp at 57 players. More cuts figure to be made on Wednesday, the day before Hershey’s training camp gets underway.

This is ok, although sad we won’t have Alzer’s mouth around for the full season.

Keepin the pipeline full of talent is always a good thing.
