Sunday Morning in Raleigh

We just arrived at the RBC Center here in Raleigh, with just over three hours to go until face-off. It’s a beautiful day here in Carolina and the parking lot is full, so it looks like plenty of folks took the Canes up on their offer of free tickets for today’s preseason opener between the Caps and the Canes.

Steve Kolbe and I are sitting in the media lounge going over notes and newspaper reports in preparation for our live internet broadcast of the game on http://www.washingtoncaps.com. I’ll post the rosters for both teams here in a couple hours.

Nate Ewell hooked us up with some camp info via e-mail, so I will pass that along as well. Here’s what Nate passed along.

* Alexander Semin is back on the ice and seems fine.

* Matt Bradley got a nice promotion to LW with Michael Nylander and Semin.

* Alex Ovechkin took a brief skate but will be back on the ice at 3 p.m. to skate with a group of kids who won a contest with CCM. He will probably be here until 9 p.m. shooting the game-open video for the new HD boards.

I’ll have more from Raleigh a bit closer to game time.
