Scrimmage Stuff, Part Deux

It’s 3-2 Philly after two periods. Michal Neuvirth replaced Daren Machesney in goal for Washington at the start of the middle frame. The Capitals dominated the period, particularly in the first half. Washington outshot Philadelphia 16-9 in the second and leads 28-19 overall.

Washington scored its first goal of the game at 14:38. Andrew Gordon gained the zone on a 2-on-1 and saucered a perfect pass to Patrick McNeill, who was driving the net on the left side. McNeill had a step on his man and tapped it in to halve the Philly lead.

The Flyers regained their two-goal lead on a Mario Kempe rebound putback at 17:04, the second Flyer goal to come on a rebound. Eleven seconds later, Washington scored again. We were still noting the Philly goal when Washington scored, but we believe it was Nicklas Backstrom who scored.

Backstrom is playing with Dan Kronick and Francois Bouchard. Travis Morin is centering Luke Lynes and Steve Pinizzotto. Gordon is playing with Jay Beagle and Mathieu Perreault. Marty Guerin is with Brett Leffler and Maxime Lacroix. On defense, it’s Karl Alzner and Josh Godfrey, McNeill and Sami Lepisto and Sean Collins and Sasha Pokulok.

    Appreciate the updates!
I definitely like the 28-19 shot advantage, can’t remember the last time that happened for the senior caps.
