Notta Lotta Going On

Not much went on while I was off on vacation; the Lightning changed hands and Andy Sutton is off the market. We’re still a month away from the start of training camp and there is precious little going on at the moment in the world of hockey.

Montreal’s Tomas Plekanec will switch from sweater No. 35 to the No. 14 recently vacated by Radek Bonk. Longtime NHLer and Dump and Chase favorite Mike Ricci has moved back to the San Jose area and is all but certain to retire there after injuries limited him to just seven games with the Phoenix Coyotes last season. Word is that Ricci will end up with a job in the Sharks’ organization.

I’m thinking I should have stayed at the beach for another week. Or two. Wake me up when it’s September.

you probably missed the best week of the summer to work near a nice cool hockey rink.

I was in Louisville and dealt with 103+ temps, and I heard it wasn’t much better on the home front.

I would have loved to have been rinkside for a hockey game than in a hot sweaty national guard armory watching some good ol’ souther rasslin’ action. :>

Pleased your vacation was good and that you are well-rested. In another 30 days, we’ll be back in action with practices, scrimmages and pre-season. I can’t wait — the competition should be fierce. It could be that one or two guys will get traded, but we’ll see what shakes out. Excitement abounds. Once again, welcome back.

“The Senators GM said yesterday [Monday, August 13] he’s been in contact with Forsberg’s representative, Don Baizley, and expressed a desire in talking contract with the Swedish star.”

Training camps are open and the temperature is falling…

For what it’s worth, I’m stuck waiting until October. I’ll be in Germany on business for pretty much all of September.
