What About Mike?
I’m the senior writer for http://www.washingtoncaps.com, the official web site of the NHL’s Washington Capitals. I’m in my second decade of parenting and covering the Caps, my fifth decade of popular culture consumption and my third decade of trying to pick the left wing lock.

hey Mike,
As usual, I enjoy your writing. Dad told me to read “The Gift of Hockey”. I loved it, as I’m sure , did he.
I think you still owe me for some ice time!!
Your sis,

Thanks, JP. And if it’s the JP I think it is, then nice work yourself, coming up with a viable, alternative and more reader-friendly variation on the trade rumor: roll your own deal. Kudos.

Mike – Thanks on your very unbiased and uplifting blog about my NJ Devils and their playoff game this past Saturday night. I’m a season ticket holder and was also at CAA and I believe it was a game for the ages. Unfortunately, my husband is a Rangers fan, and had to work the next morning, so he was huffing and puffing throughout the entire overtime and wouldn’t let me fully enjoy the double OT win. As you are aware, my boys lost last night, but played strong in the 2nd and 3rd periods. I’m hoping for three more wins for the Devils in this series, but if it doesn’t work out for them, we still have a very bright future here in the Garden State. Again, thanks for the good word and LET’S GO DEVILS!

A great turnout today at the Capitals equipment sale. It was nice to see the enthusiasm during the off-season, with people clamoring to buy stuff. I got three of Ben Clymer’s used sticks — just the right size. I asked them where the money goes, and apparently it just goes back to the organization. Wouldn’t it be nice to do a used equipment sale/auction for charity? Like Children’s Hospital maybe?

You’ve got a great blog and I enjoy reading it regularly. I’ve got a hockey site & i’ve been trying to promote it lately.
Would you consider doing a review, article, or post a link to it for your readers?
The site is http://www.hockEdeals.com and is all for helping hockey players shop for hockey equipment by telling them the best prices. I don’t sell equipment so i’m trying to save fellow hockey players money.
Please consider helping me promote my site but keep up the great work with your blog!
Thanks for everything!

Hi Mike,
I stumbled upon your site after doing a search on the Denver Spurs. Nice work! Great to see this kind of writing, a little bit like our boy Bish in Boston. By the way, sounds like the fans in D.C. are happy with ex-Bruin Milan Jurcina–right?

Mike, this blog is the best thing I’ve seen on the web since I signed that petition to bring back the Patrick Division.Grew up inside the beltway and now live in Boston, so its nice to get some Caps insight from someone who knows the organization well.
If it wasn’t for your blog and center ice I’d probably have to commute between DC and Boston. Then I’d have to play in two mens leagues, which would get complicated, and my equipment would stink up the plane. Oh, sorry for the digression. Great writing, keep it up!

I love reading your insider’s take on my beloved Capitals. Your site has inspired me to share my knowledge and opinions on my own blogging site.
I just got it up and running two days ago and have linked to your blog. I was hoping you would check out “In Ahead Of The Play,” found at http://www.inahead.com and link to it if you’re happy with what you see.
Thanks Mike, and keep up the fabulous work!

Hey Mike, can I get an autographed photo? Of you and maybe Stretch? Yes, I’m serious! You guys are the best thing about being a Caps fan, the blogs and the Caps reports keep me in the loop on my team (I live in Canada, I don’t have access to many games on TV and I have to rely on the net a lot, so the fact that you are such a professional is very appreciated!). So, how about it, can I have a unique piece of Caps memorobilia, an actual signed autograph photo of the senior writer?
