Beech is Back
This just in: the Capitals have claimed center Kris Beech off waivers from Vancouver. Washington will then place Beech back on waivers with the intention of re-assigning him to Hershey of the AHL, assuming he clears waivers.
This would be Beech’s third tour of duty with the Washington organization. The Caps drafted him with their first choice (seventh overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and subsequently swapped him to the Penguins in the July, 2001 deal that brought Jaromir Jagr to the Caps.
Beech was re-acquired from the Predators in the Mar. 2006 trade that sent defenseman Brendan Witt to Nashville. Beech was a key cog on the 2006 AHL Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears team.

1) That has to be a joke, right? Or is Hershey desperate for bodies? Our only hope is that we never again see Mr. Beech back in a Caps uniform. Then we’ll know things are going back into the toilet!

Is it April Fool’s day already?
This is amazing.

OMG, I just laughed at that. Thats just crazy, nobody wants this kid. As long as he stays in Hershey im fine with the move.

No joke, I assure you. Hershey is pretty thin up the middle.

Amazing. #7 overall and he can’t stick on a big club. I tell you, drafting in hockey is such a crapshoot, it makes the Ovechkin signing that much more reasonable.

This is just a “depth signing” as well as getting a “known commodity”.

He’ll definitely help the Bears. With Steckel, Laich, Gordon and Laing all with the Caps, they certainly can use him…

Ugh. Maybe GMGM should go be the GM for Hershey. Bottom line is that Beech is not good enough to play at the NHL level and should start learning the ins and out s of wheat farming. If he plays one shift in DC its one shift too many.

I think its great because Beech did well in Hersey under BB, and if you look at the rise of performance of all the other players that played I could only guess that BB will know how to use how to utilize Beech the best.

Here today, gone tomorrow. The Caps had to waive Beech in order to send him to Hershey, and now Pittsburgh claimed him…
Four teams in one month… busy guy.
