Hey, go just a wee bit easier on the NBA, guys. It used to be a much classier outfit than it is now (where have you gone, John Stockton?), so there is a bit of history over there, as well. Granted, Dr. Naismith is probably turning circles in his grave at the mess his game has become, but please--to each his own, ya think? I prefer hockey to the NBA now, but it wasn't always that way with me.

So while I'll happily add to the chorus of "yay for classy NHL players", can we please call off the shots at NBA fans? Because a couple of years ago, I was one of 'em. And if I can see the light--lots of it to be seen with Ovie shooting like he is--some of these other hoopheads might, as well. Which they won't do if we're not being polite (dare I say "sportsmanlike"?) to them ourselves.

No, I don't like the idea that the press will swarm the Wiz and leave the Caps alone. But hey, they're journalists, and a journalism degree--no offense, Mike--doesn't automatically mean you're smarter than the average bear.

And tell those guys running the Smile Cam to keep that thing pointed away from Chris Clark for the next couple of home games...

I am very impress with your way to write this great story. Congratulations. It could be a charter of a longer novel about sports and so on. I love how you gave us detail of everything. Good luck and I hope I can read more from you.

No more tears, Anonymous. We understand that not everybody is blessed with a sense of humor.

So go ahead and dry those eyes, champ. Mike is sorry he made fun of your favorite sport.

Actually, no, I lied. I'm 100% positive he's laughing at you, Anonymous.

Thanks for the update, Mike. As usual, a job well done. Captain Clarkie sure did show some guts, and although there is a fine line between stupidity and bravery, it wasn't close enough to make people think otherwise. He set the bar high. I can't imagine how much that must have hurt. The worst I've had was knocking out a front tooth when I tripped over a gym mat and hit the floor, open mouth first.

Here's hoping we see Clarkie back in the line-up soon.

Vogel...

How can you be so impartial to a sport that was born in the U.S.A.? You have got issues. What is your problem? Why don't you just move to France.

Anonymous to me is a synonym for gutless. Which is exactly the opposite of what our team leader is. Good on you, Chris, and thanks Mike for telling it like it is.

It was a little more serious than a back bruise buddy, he got knocked over the previous game and slammed his head on the floor, so the press was rightfully there to see if he had a concussion or serious neck injury, but oh thats too bad your tough guy lost some teeth.

What's with this Wiz and Skins' bashing -- you auditioning for another (snide) blog?!?! FYI, the holiday season is no time to have Daniel Snyder's parking police hot after you. But keep up the truth talk!

I'm sure one of the local round-ballers either shot someone or fathered another child out of wedlock: par for the course in the NBA. The sport is unwatchable and the players are unspeakable. One of the great things about the NHL is that the players give you the sense that they probably mow their own lawns.

I remember distinctly when Clark took the puck in the mouth. He kind of sagged, and then you could see him pick himself up and continue. Tough, tough guy: par for the course in the NHL.

Glad to hear that the injury bug might be surmountable. The Caps are going to need all their horses and a good effort to get a point out of the Atlanta game - Atlanta's good.
